Grades 6-8 Health Syllabus
In health class we will be exploring the Social, Mental-Emotional, and Physical aspects of living a healthy and safe life. The main focus is on making appropriate decisions and understanding that there are consequences for those decisions, both good and bad.
                         
                        Grading Criteria:
·        Daily effort – 10% (includes everything that makes up a day in class)
·        Homework – 40% (includes in class and homework and also group work)
·        Tests – 50% (includes quizzes and unit exams)
Grading Scale:
A = 94+                       B- = 80-83.x                D+ = 67-69.x  
A- = 90-93.x                C+ = 77-79.x               D = 64-66.x
B+ = 87-89.x               C = 84-86.x                 D- = 60-63.x
B = 84-86.x                 C- = 70-73.x               F = 0-59.x      
 
 
Class Objectives:
 
The students will be able to:
·                    Illustrate how each of the body systems work
·                    Describe how the body systems work
·                    Appreciate the difference between males and females
·                    Accept themselves for who they are
·                    Make healthy and educated nutrition choices
·                    Recognize that every decision that they make has a consequence
·                    Indicate how to make smart decisions while facing their peers
·                    Resolve conflicts in healthy ways
·                    Respond calmly to an emergency situation
·                    Demonstrate how to use CPR and identify the proper time to use CPR
