2011 - 2012
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Your child in grades K-5 may be bringing home small prizes from PE class. They can earn these
by running the whole time during our warm-ups and by being well behaved during class time. At
the beginning of class I pick 2 students without them knowing who I picked. If the students that I
pick run the whole time during our warm-up and they are well behaved for the duration of class, they
can earn the rewards. The students’ progress is tracked on a football field bulletin board that is in my health classroom. Each yard line that they reach will earn them a different level of prizes.
In grades 6-8, students are in appointed teams for each quarter in both PE and Health. They are
in the same team for both classes. The teams earn points by doing what is expected of them such
as: attend class, be on time, bring your materials or change of clothing (for PE), turn your
assignment in on time, and have good behavior and manners while in class. These points turn into
extra credit for Health homework and tests and other rewards.
Also, students in grades 5-8 will be fitness testing again this year. It is important to know
how healthy we are and if we can improve our health in anyway. If we are healthy it is important
to keep doing what we are doing to stay healthy. Our first fitness test will be toward the end
of September. We will be having another test sometime in January and our last one for the
school year will be near the end of May. It is always our goal to better our previous scores.
In addition to that, students that perform in the top ten of grades 5-8 and/or if they beat the
record for their grade, they will have their name in the glass case in the gymnasium.
Thank you for your continued support! We are a partnership.
I love Neosho and I love being on your team.
Sincerely,
Mr. Erickson
